This is the name by which this rosemary is known around here. Nobody seems able to determine its true origins. It's hardy only in frost-free areas. We've left the Jeep in the photo to show the scale of the enormously long trails of this plant. It's a really beautiful addition to a frost-free garden. It even has to be trimmed back from crossing the drive! Tender except in seaside locations in warm areas, hence its name.

This is a climbing plant for the conservatory and it is truly spectacular. It has large gold/yellow trumpets which are scented, hence its name the golden chalice plant. The flowers have purple ridges running down inside them adding to the exotic look of this lovely climber. Grow in free draining good compost and keep on the dry side in winter but feed monthly in summer.

Tender, fast growing shrub suitable outdoors only in the warmest, frost free gardens, otherwise this is a very handsome conservatory plant. Deep blue-violet flowers about 1.5" across, over a long period in summer and autumn. Best in full sun and moist, well drained neutral to alkaline soil.
Can be easily trimmed or trained as a standard. Can also be grown as a wall shrub. 2l pot.

This is a gorgeous shrub for the conservatory (ours is still flowering in late October and goes into the garden in its pot for the summer) but it is only suitable for the very warmest, frost-free gardens in e.g. Scilly or the Channel Isles. Min. 5C.

This Solanum is a climber but needs tying in. It's very unusual and very beautiful, covered in a mass of blue flowers. It's said to be hardy in the warmest parts of UK if planted on a sunny, sheltered wall in moist but well-drained fertile soil.

This rare and unusual tender shrub is known as the Marmalade Bush because of its colouring. It's perfect for the conservatory or for a tub which can be put out in summer and brought back in for the winter. It's evergreen with dark green foliage and grows to about 2m tall. Plant in rich, moist but well drained compost in a sunny position. A beautiful, richly coloured and striking plant. 2l pot

This very rare plant can be grown as a scrambling shrub or a woody vine. The narrow leaves are in whorls of three, a shiny green above, dull and paler below. The flowers are borne in clusters at the ends of branches, pale yellow, russet brown towards the base. The fruit which is only borne in sunny summers is a long two horned pod. The seeds are very poisonous and are used in heart medicine but if you grow foxgloves, there's no reason not to grow this, unless you're going to dip your arrows in a decoction!

Commonly known as the Cape honeysuckle this is a rather unusual (in UK) sprawling and lovely shrub, native to South Africa. It’s not reliably frost hardy, though it will go to around -3C for short periods, so is best in a conservatory in this country, except in the mildest of gardens. The leaves are pinnate and quite a dark green, while the flame-coloured flowers which appear in terminal clusters are about 4” to 6” long and tubular. Some support needed when it can grow to about 4' or a little more. It's very beautiful and exotic in appearance. 2l pot

A clear lemon yellow, scrambling climber. This is suitable for the conservatory where it brings a vibrant note to the planting scheme. Needs to be frost free but can be put outside in a pot in summer and left to clamber over a trellis or frame. Bring in for the winter. 2l pot

Richly coloured purple flowers in spires from autumn through winter. It has been known to over-winter in gardens which never see frost but is better grown in a greenhouse or conservatory and kept frost free. Can grow to 6' under glass. This is a not-over-vigorous twining plant which can get to about 5' if tied in and supported on a frame. It has very pretty five-petalled blue flowers which have touches of green and lilac in them. On mature plants, all colours can sometimes be seen at the same time. It's a good plant for training up a support in a pot and likes a warm sunny and sheltered position. Its charming flowers make good cut flowers for the house. 2l pot

This shrub seems to be little known in UK and is a native of S. America. It is very attractive with large rounded deciduous leaves and large heads of small purpley blue flowers, rather like a Buddleia but with the flowers going up rather than down. The flowers are about 1” across and it’s a rather dramatic plant with the leaves giving a tropical look. It’s best planted in a sheltered position as the leaves can be torn by the wind. Good soil and free drainage but with plenty of water in hot weather. Only for sheltered, frost-free gardens or the conservatory.
