Shown with with 6' tall scale model! Doesn't always flower in the garden if the summer is a poor one. But in the greenhouse it goes out through the roof and has single pink flowers right at the top! This requires a height of about 18'! Grow as with all Dahlias - don't allow it to get cold and wet in winter. Mulch it deeply when planted in good drainage. We suggest buying in late spring.

Formerly Wattakaka sinensis, this is a scented twining climber for the conservatory, though we have seen it outdoors in sheltered, frost free gardens. This is an unusual, graceful plant of great beauty and while it isn't showy, it is elegant.

This is a stunning plant for the sheltered, warm garden and gives a very exotic touch to your planting schemes. As a plus, bees absolutely love its little blue flowers and treat it as a sort of high-rise 5* restaurant. In mild climates, it seeds itself and you will have it for years to come. It's hard to give a final height as we've seen them anything from 5' to 15' tall. If buying in autumn, over-winter in frost-free greenhouse or conservatory before planting out in spring.

Rare and unusual, this is a 5'x5' shrub with gorgeously scented yellow flowers in round heads. It's a bit of a connoisseur's plant and needs good soil and careful placing to get the best from its lovely flowers which bloom from winter to spring. It's happiest in full sun or light shade and won't go below -5C, so is not for cold areas. Give it moist, well-drained humus-rich loamy soil - in other words, the really good stuff most gardeners dream of. Can be grown in a cool greenhouse or conservatory but water regularly giving a monthly feed of liquid fertiliser during its growing season.

Abyssinian banana. This very fast-growing plant has the most lovely deep red leaves and less of a stem than Musa basjoo. We think it more attractive, less susceptible to wind damage - a really glamorous plant in pots on your terrace and over-wintered in a frost-free greenhouse.

Of all the many ornamental and beautiful plants in the Pea family, few are more colourful than these. Deep scarlet flowers in big racemes, May to July. Almost hardy, particularly if the root is protected from frost, otherwise an excellent plant for the conservatory or greenhouse.

One for the collector. This extremely rare plant from S. Africa, has willow like evergreen leaves and heads of
small purplish flowers. In its native country, it grows along streams so keep it in moist
but not water logged soil. It won't take temps below -3C at most, so if in doubt keep it
inside over winter in a warm greenhouse or conservatory where it will be evergreen.
This is a truly unusual beauty.

Clusters of small pink flowers and unlike most other Fuchsias, this one has bunches of fruit like small grapes, following the flowers. Edible. Not hardy and could be damaged by temps below -5C so only for the mildest gardens. Otherwise, this is a beautiful and rarely seen conservatory plant. 2l pot.

This is a plant from Mexico, & it's unusual indeed to find it in UK. It has a long lifecycle growing over a period of 12 - 15 years before flowering. It's immensely striking and when it flowers, is a lovely sight with 'branches' hanging with beautiful little flowers. It's monocarpic but the good thing is that it leaves hundreds of little plantlets behind and that's how we collected ours. We were fortunate to be in Tresco when every single Furcraea on the island burst into flower and from those going over and dropping seedlings, we were allowed to bring several home. Grows in mildest gardens or grow in conservatory. Poor to moderate soil, full sun, sheltered spot. Sharp drainage is essential.
