Related to the Agaves, this has red flowers with green tips, borne on red stems. Tender and grows best in light shade or sun and well drained soil. This is a very eye-catching and unusual plant. We had one outside that only gave up in the winter of 08/09. 2l pot

What can one say except that this gorgeous plant has to be among the conservatory favourites. It takes everyone straight back to memories of their hot summer holidays and a cool glass of something on a Bougainvillea draped terrace. Keep dry in winter and only start watering again when growth re-starts. They love sun but don't like to be in extreme heat, so can go outside on a frame in a good summer. This Brugmansia has beautiful peachy flowers and very attractive variegated leaves. Brugmansia or Datura as they are more commonly known will easily grow to 6ft in a year. Brugmansia are gross feeders and should be fed almost continuously. Pot them up in a pot 12-18 “ and enjoy them on your terrace during summer then put them in a light, frost free place for the winter. They don't need pruning unless they get out of shape and this can affect flowering as they only flower after the stem has forked. NB they are classified ‘harmful if eaten’ but the seed pods are the main culprits and our UK climate means they rarely set seed here. 2l pot

This is a glamorous, dark leaved plant which grows very rapidly and has huge, heart shaped leaves. It will be happy in summer with just the roots at the margin of a pond and it's a heavy feeder.
