House Nursery is a family-run Nursery owned by
Raymond and Matthew Hubbard and we are located in
Landscove, not far from Totnes in one direction and
Ashburton in the other, South Devon, UK. We have
over 3,000 varieties of plants and shrubs -
ranging from the everyday to the exotic - most of
which we grow here at the Nursery. We are very much
a Nursery, not a garden centre. You will find high
quality plants at very fair prices, sold by the
people who grow them and know them. In our tea room
you will find delicious food and everywhere you
will find a warm welcome.
We regret that dogs are not allowed here except for guide dogs.
We don’t specialise but we do have a lot of rare, exotic or unusual perennials and shrubs, as well as the known and loved annuals and perennials, shrubs and trees and a wide range of Fuchsias. It's always worth enquiring as to whether we have something not listed.
We offer a full mail-order plants service and can arrange local deliveries up to 25 miles from the Nursery at a charge to be discussed with us *before* you buy, please. All our Nursery staff have worked in horticulture for many years and most have RHS and other plant, land management or design qualifications.
The majority of the plants we sell are propagated and raised here. We have over three thousand varieties ranging from the well-known and loved to the exotic and rare.
Hill House Nursery is the home of Nemesia Bluebird which has now sold over 11 million plants under licence worldwide, Dianthus Old Mother Hubbard (RHS agm) Crocosmia Krakatoa and Phormium Lord Jersey, as well as Plectranthus Sasha and Plectranthus Hill House.
*We are open seven days a week from 11am to 5pm, including Easter Sunday and all Bank Holidays, closing only for two weeks on the Friday closest to Christmas.*
We have a tea room selling home made cakes and scones, Devon Cream Teas and light lunches. The tea room is open from 28th February to 4th October 2009, 11am to last orders at 4.45pm. We have a large car park but do ask that e.g. coach parties enquire before coming.
There is limited wheelchair access and wheelchairs can be accommodated in the tea room and on its lawn.
